Huawei signs SEP deal with Japanese phone operator
Acaciapat.com – Japanese mobile phone operator NTT Docomo has granted Chinese telecoms company Huawei a licence covering standard-essential patents (SEPs) for wireless communications.
Huawei is one of 11 companies which has been granted the licence, while Docomo has plans to extend the licence to more companies in the future.
The Japanese company, which made the announcement on Friday, June 10, has been engaged in research and development of mobile network and service technologies for the past two decades.
Fees are paid to Docomo for its SEPs by both patent pools and from individual companies.
The company plans to continue licensing its SEPs through patent pools and individual negotiations following its future research and development of mobile communication technologies.
